The draw of traditional crafts in far flung places has brought me into contact with indigenous artists and led to both popular and scholarly articles. These journeys have seeped into my fiction as well — most noticeably in the story, The Last Dalang — lent a carver's chisel, a weaver's loom and a sculptor's clay to the storyteller's craft.
